Hisachika Takahashi to sit and watch
a colaboration of Hisachika Takahashi and Tori Walker

Initially he asked to tell the story of his life and how he came to be sitting in liverpool with pieces of a painting owned by Rauchenberg. After listening for a while he asked us to create works based on the pieces of painting and using the painting.
i decided to respond by making a piece about the artist himself.
he told us tales of how he loved to sit and watch his mother working in the florists, and how he watched Rauchenberg and Lucio Fontana as they worked. As his said this i realised the entire work was created for Rauchenberg as a thankyou for the things he had learnt, and it was floral, which he attributed to sitting and watching his mother work. His painting was also a wood cut print and painting, and as he explained the manner in which he was trained i decided i had to make a piece about sitting and watching as that is what his hole life has been about.
patiently learning and eagerly awaiting inspiration.
I then set about making minatures and finally the small statue sitting in front of the painting from his young life with his head not yet fully evolved.
